About Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home
Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home has served Oxford since 1975, when founder Edward L. Collins, Jr. purchased the business from Lewis B. Cauffman, where he had worked since 1958. Edward, a graduate of Eckels Mortuary School in Philadelphia and a Korean War veteran of the United States Marine Corps, operated the funeral home with his wife Helen until his passing in 2007.
Kevin D. Collins, a 1980 Oxford Area High School graduate, joined his father as a second-generation funeral director in 1985 after earning degrees from Millersville University and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Kevin has served as supervisor and funeral director for over 30 years and now owns the business. The funeral home building served as the Collins family residence where Edward and Helen raised their four children.
Edward L. Collins, Jr. was active in the Oxford community as a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus at Sacred Heart Church, past president of the Oxford Lions Club, and served on the boards of the Oxford Senior Center and Chester County Automobile Association. The funeral home offers veterans honors and serves families throughout southern Chester County.
