Bailey and Annie Lee Duncan opened Duncan Funeral Home in 1954 at its current location on Settegast Road after attending Commonwealth School of Mortuary Science together. Following Bailey Duncan's death in 1959, Annie Lee Duncan continued operating the business for decades, becoming one of the first Black women in Texas to succeed in the funeral profession and serving as a member of the Houston Funeral Directors and Morticians Association.
The Duncan family previously owned and operated funeral homes in Cleveland and Livingston in addition to their Houston location. Today the business is owned and operated by Jerry and Mrs. Allen, who maintain the tradition established by the Duncan family over 70 years ago.
The funeral home features a recently renovated facility and offers traditional funerals, memorial services, graveside ceremonies, and both basic and full-service cremation options. Staff provides pre-planning services and grief support, and collaborates with other funeral homes when needed to serve families throughout the Houston area.
