Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home was founded in 1991 by J. Tyler Douglas and James L. Johnson. The funeral home remains family owned and operated, now led by President Susan Douglas Hopkins, a fifth-generation funeral director with over two decades of experience in funeral service.
Tyler Douglas was a fourth-generation funeral director who worked in the profession for 76 years before retiring, having started in childhood at his father's firm, Douglas Funeral Home in Methuen, Massachusetts. Susan Douglas Hopkins is an active member of the Salem community, volunteering with the Salem Kiwanis Club, Salem Lions Club, and Salem Area Women's Club, GFWC.
The funeral home offers veteran services with guidance on benefits and services available to veteran families. They provide facilities for counseling, arrangement conferences, viewings, and funeral services, along with grief support resources and pre-planning programs.
