Bill J. and Wilma Dickey founded Dickey Funeral Homes on July 4, 1947. The business expanded in 1980 when Jerald A. Dickey and his parents established new facilities in Garden City and Harrisonville to serve families throughout Cass County. Today, the second and third generations continue operations, including Jerald A. Dickey, Dawson A. Dickey, Alison R. Dickey Pettie, and Brok P. Dickey.
The funeral home was the first in the county to construct a purpose-built facility specifically for funeral service. Additional innovations include an Obituary Hotline (816-887-5228) providing 24-hour funeral notices for all Cass County funeral homes, photo memorial programs, and accessible handicapped parking. The chapel is wired to provide audio throughout the building during services that exceed seating capacity. A licensed insurance agent is available on staff to assist families with insurance questions.
