D & A Funeral Services was founded by Sarah Lee Davis in response to community need for a funeral home in Chadbourn and surrounding Columbus County communities. Originally incorporated as D & L Funeral Home, the business was reestablished under its current name in 1997, with the initials representing the area it serves.
The funeral home has been staffed by multiple generations of the Davis family. Margaret H. Davis, daughter-in-law of the founder, served as Manager and Funeral Director. Avala L. Nealy, granddaughter of Sarah Lee Davis, is a licensed Funeral Director currently serving as General Manager and is licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina. She also holds life insurance agent licenses in both states.
Judson Dukes served as Funeral Services Director and Embalmer until his retirement in 2004. The funeral home provides services to families throughout North and South Carolina.
