Curtis-Britch Funeral Home was founded on April 9, 1894 by Byron and Augusta Curtis, making it one of Newport's oldest businesses with 130 years of continuous service to Orleans and Essex counties. Originally continued by their son Justin A. C. Curtis and his wife Frances Gates Curtis, the funeral home is now owned by Roland N. Britch, Jr. and Richard and Louise Bouffard. In November 2001, the business acquired the Converse-Rushford Funeral Home locations in Newport and Barton, and in 2012 purchased the M. R. Davis Funeral Home in Craftsbury Common.
The funeral home operates five locations across the region: Newport, Derby, Island Pond, Barton, and Craftsbury Common. The staff includes licensed funeral directors and embalmers Roland N. Britch, Jr., Richard R. Bouffard, Betty Maloney, and Mason Manzi, along with Stephanie Currier who serves as Children's Room Director.
