About Crawford Funeral Chapel
Crawford Funeral Chapel has been serving Bark River and the surrounding Delta County area since 1965, when Donald J. Crawford purchased the former Boyle Funeral Home and renamed it Crawford Funeral Chapel in 1973. Donald Crawford, a graduate of Wayne State University's Department of Mortuary Science, began his career in 1959 and established multiple funeral homes across the region.
The business remains family-owned across three generations. Donald's son Jim Crawford, a licensed funeral director who graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 1974, worked alongside his father before purchasing the business in 1994. Jim's daughter Caren later joined the family business after earning her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, continuing the Crawford family's tradition of funeral service in the Upper Peninsula.
