Craig Funeral Home in Minden has been family owned and operated for over seven decades. Current owners Eric and Nickola VanHorn purchased the business in 2017 from Dave and Jane Craig, who had been affiliated with the funeral homes since 1979. The Minden location was originally built by the Layton family in 1949 after purchasing the Nichol and Smith Funeral Homes.
The business also operates the Jelden Chapel in Hildreth, which was originated by the Jake Jelden family and completely rebuilt in 1994. The Jelden family eventually partnered with the Layton family to serve the Hildreth community. Craig Funeral Home previously operated the Freeland Funeral Home location in Axtell as well.
