Cox-Needham Funeral Home traces its roots to 1913 when the business was first incorporated in Pilot Mountain. The funeral home has a notable heritage tied to the founding families: Will Cox and siblings James Edgar Needham and Mae Needham Owens, who was the first licensed lady embalmer and funeral director in North Carolina. What began as two separate funeral homes—Cox Funeral Home on East Main Street and Needham Funeral Home in the Mt. Pilot Drug Building location—were combined in 1984 into a single facility at 822 West Main Street in Pilot Mountain, across from East Surry High School.

The funeral home is currently owned and operated by A. J. Daoud and serves families throughout Stokes County, including Danbury and the surrounding communities. Cox-Needham provides traditional funeral services, celebration of life ceremonies, and cremation options, accommodating various cultural and religious funeral traditions upon request.
