Claybar Funeral Home was established in 1946 when Ambrose Claybar converted a residence in Orange into a funeral facility. After World War II, his brother Lannie Claybar joined the business and built it into a leading provider alongside his wife Marjorie Brown. Lannie, known for his people skills and talent as an accomplished pianist, served until his death in 1969.
The second generation built a new facility at 504 5th Street adjacent to the original site. Brown Claybar assumed leadership in 1980 and expanded the company's reach through strategic acquisitions, including Clayton-Thompson Bridge City Funeral Home, Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, and Orange Forest Lawn. The business now operates locations in Orange, Bridge City, and Beaumont.
The funeral home features a state-of-the-art on-site crematory with a family gathering room and enhanced security. The company continues to expand its facilities and cemetery grounds while offering veteran services and pre-planning programs.
