Church Funeral Services and Crematory was founded in Saint Amant in 2009 by David Singletary and Alvin Villeneuve, two lifelong Ascension Parish residents and funeral professionals who had previously worked for various funeral homes. They recognized a need for affordable funeral services as family-owned homes were being consolidated by corporations, and they chose the name "Church" to reflect their focus on conducting services at families' own places of worship.
The funeral home operates an on-site crematory, established early in their history when most competitors were outsourcing cremation services. This allows them to maintain direct control over the cremation process rather than sending remains to third-party facilities.
In 2017, following Alvin Villeneuve's passing and David Singletary's retirement, the business merged with Silver Lining Funeral Services, operated by brothers Greg and Mike Clark. Mike Clark had been with Church Funeral Services since 2014. The funeral home maintains arrangement offices in Baton Rouge and Walker in addition to the Saint Amant location, serving families throughout Southeast Louisiana including Gonzales, Prairieville, Denham Springs, Zachary, and Central.
