Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory was founded in 1947 by Charles F. Snyder at 414 East King Street in downtown Lancaster. The business remains family-owned through three generations: Charles F. "Chip" Snyder, Jr. joined in 1975 and became President in 1988, and his son Charles "Chad" Snyder III entered the business in 2004.
The funeral home operates multiple locations throughout Lancaster County. In 1989, the business acquired a facility in Millersville. In 2000, a modern facility was built on Lititz Pike in Manheim Township to serve the northern part of the county. In 2010, an on-site crematory was added to the Lititz Pike location, making it the only facility in Lancaster County to offer an on-site crematory, witness room, and chapel all under one roof at the time.
The funeral home offers pre-planning programs, veteran services including coordination with Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, and monument services through Heritage Monuments. The downtown Lancaster location is a Georgian-style facility that continues to host services for families in the city.
