Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory was founded in 1894 by German immigrant Adolph Brugger at 449 East 9th Street in Erie. Five generations of the Brugger family have operated the funeral home, with over 20 family members dedicating their careers to serving Erie families over the past 130 years.
The Pine Avenue branch at 1595 West 38th Street at Greengarden Boulevard was built in 1961 as the first funeral home in Pennsylvania designed specifically for funeral needs. The facility features flexible visitation rooms and was completely remodeled in both 1980 and 2014. The funeral home operates an on-site crematory and serves families throughout Erie, Millcreek, Fairview, McKean, and Summit Township.
The original Ninth Street location served as a neighborhood funeral home in Erie's lower east side until its closing in 2006.
