Brown Sr. purchased the firm from Dawson's widow and earned his funeral director and embalmer licenses in Ohio, serving his apprenticeship under Edward Kuebler. The business was renamed Brown-Dawson Funeral Home and held its first funeral under the new ownership in November 1935.
George Sr. ran the operation successfully, and in the 1940s his wife Mary Catherine Brown became a licensed funeral director, making them one of the early husband-and-wife funeral directing teams in Butler County. The firm has maintained its main offices at 330 Pershing Avenue, just around the corner from its original location, continuing multiple generations of family ownership and service to Hamilton families.
