About Brown Colonial Mortuary
Brown Colonial Mortuary was founded in 1927 by Harold R. Brown, who returned to Santa Ana after serving in Europe during World War I and working in the funeral industry in San Francisco. He initially partnered with Samuel Harrel to establish the firm at 17th and Sycamore streets in a converted residence. In the mid-1930s, Emil Wagner purchased Mr. Harrel's interest, and the partners opened their current modern facility in September 1937 directly across the street from the original location.
The funeral home operates under license FD-59 and offers both traditional services and cremation options. For families choosing cremation who still wish to hold a viewing and funeral service, the mortuary provides a rental casket and a selection of alternative containers suitable for these services.
