Bram Funeral Home traces its origins to 1865, when founder Gottlieb Frederick Bram established a general merchandise store in Denver, Missouri and began offering caskets crafted by a local wood craftsman. The business has remained in the Bram family across multiple generations, with G.F.'s sons John Peter Bram (the first to attend embalming school in Kansas City and become licensed) and Rudolph J.A. Bram operating as Bram Brothers until 1929. Third-generation family members including John G., Kermit, Lester, and Morris Bram continued the legacy in subsequent decades.

The funeral home's first horse-drawn hearse was purchased in 1880 and remains preserved in photographs. The original red block building in Denver still stands with the Bram name visible above the southwest corner door. In 1929, Rudolph J.A. expanded operations by purchasing the Parish Hardware store in Hamilton and adding undertaking services there.

Today the funeral home serves families in Maryville and Nodaway County with both traditional burial and cremation services.
