Folsom Funeral Service was established in 1905 when Arthur Nye Folsom purchased the business from George Hill. That first year, the firm conducted four funerals, including services for Helen F. Emerson on February 21, 1905. The business has served over 10,000 families across more than 120 years of operation.
In 1915, Arthur's son Earl W. Folsom joined the firm at age 15 and a half, becoming the youngest licensed funeral director in Massachusetts history, a record believed to still stand. The business originally operated from a storefront on South Street in Roslindale before later serving Dedham, Westwood, Norwood, and surrounding Norfolk County communities.
The funeral home remains family-owned and operated, now spanning multiple generations of the Folsom family.
