Bolton Funeral Home began in 1950 when Robert N. Bolton, Sr. and his wife Doris purchased Walton Funeral Home from his former employer Homer Walton. The business relocated to Columbiana when the Boltons converted the Lightcap House, a former dentist office, into the first freestanding funeral home facility in the area.
Robert N. Bolton, Sr. served as Mayor of Columbiana and Shelby County Coroner, and the family donated land for Bolton Field, a baseball facility still used by the local girls' softball league. The funeral home passed to the next generation with Robert N. "Rob" Bolton, Jr., who grew up working in the family business.
Bolton Funeral Home maintains locations in both Columbiana and Calera to serve families throughout Shelby County. The funeral home offers veteran services and coordinates all details required to secure military benefits for eligible service members.
