Kenneth J. Allred founded Allred Funeral Home in 1960, establishing a family-centered approach to funeral service. After his death in 1965, Paul Mayhew operated the business until 1976, when Kenneth's son Jim Allred purchased the funeral home and continued serving families for over 40 years. Jim Allred earned his mortuary science degree from Wayne State University in 1974 and maintains memberships in both the Michigan Funeral Directors Association and the National Funeral Directors Association.

In 2023, Tim Brown acquired the business, with Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services continuing the Allred tradition. The funeral home serves Berrien Springs, Berrien Township, Buchanan, Bertrand Township, and Stevensville. Staff members provide specialized assistance with veterans honors, including help with benefit forms, military funeral honors coordination, flag presentation ceremonies, and Taps arrangements for families of deceased service members.
