A Sacred Moment — Funeral Home in Seattle, WA

Char Barrett founded A Sacred Moment in 2007 after becoming a certified celebrant and earning a degree in mortuary science. She trained with Final Passages and served as the first president of the National Home Funeral Alliance, a nonprofit that educates families about home funeral options. The funeral home grew in 2010 to include additional staff and Bindi, a comfort dog who accompanies Char to Camp Erin, an annual bereavement camp for children.

A Sacred Moment operates an on-site cremation facility where families can witness the placement and perform rituals during the cremation process. The funeral home offers direct cremation, expedited cremation, and scattering services from Washington State ferries. Viewing options include private one-hour viewings for immediate family and four-hour viewings accommodating up to 50 people at their Seattle chapel locations.

Char has guided dozens of families through home funeral vigils locally and nationally, and has presented at workshops in the U.S. and abroad. She has been featured in newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and publications focused on green burial and home funerals.
