Frank “Buddy” Coleman, Jr.
YORK – Mr. Frank “Buddy” Coleman, Jr., 79, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery in York with the Rev. Ed Jillson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 6 – 8 PM at Bratton Funeral Home in York.
Mr. Coleman was born in Pickens County, SC on July 12, 1933 to the late Frank Edwin Coleman and Geraldine McConnell Coleman. He was a graduate of York High School and Presbyterian College, a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He was a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Captain of the York Rescue Squad, leader of First Presbyterian Church Troop 35 of the Boy Scouts of America for 10 years, and was a vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a member of Philanthropic Lodge 32 AFM York and Scottish Rite Bodies and a Shriner.
Mr. Coleman was a retired merchant, a York County Employee, a Western Union manager, member of York Eastern Star 145, Past Worthy Patron, and a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in York.
He is survived by his wife Joel Smith Coleman, two sons, Frank Edwin Coleman III, Ralph Thomas Coleman, daughter Beth Coleman Branyon, and 6 grandchildren.
