Frances Williamson
YORK -- Frances Jeffries Whitesides Williamson "Mama Tank" went to be with her lord and savior on August 3, 2015. She passed away peacefully, with family surrounding her, at Westminster Manor in Rock Hill, South Carolina. She was 96 years old.
Frances is survived by sons Pat Williamson (Chris) of Rock Hill and John Williamson of Statesboro, Georgia; her grandchildren Lori Taylor (Marcia) of Charlotte, Amanda Meyers (Kurt) of Cincinnati, OH, Patrick Williamson (Kelly) of Rock Hill, Reagan Williamson (Raegan) of Rock Hill, Donald Taylor Jr. (Ashlee) of Columbia, and Jeff Williamson of Rock Hill. She was blessed with seven great grandchildren: William Meyers, Hayden Meyers, Jack Meyers, Marianna Williamson, Hayes Williamson, Connor Williamson, and Jack Williamson. Frances is also survived by two brothers, George Whitesides (Doris) and Marshall Whitesides (Sid).
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her infant son John T. Williamson Jr., daughter Jeffry W. Taylor, sister Louise W. Taylor and parents Mr. and Mrs. George Whitesides, Sr.
Frances was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in York, South Carolina where she was an elder. She was an Honorary Member of Presbyterian Women, USA, and was listed in the Who's Who of American Women. She was a graduate of Bethany High School and of Winthrop College, where she was a member of Lambda Omega Kappa Sorority. She was the first elected female for the position of York County Superintendent of Education. Frances was an Honorary Member of the Rosa Alba Garden Club and of the Asbury Coward Literary Club. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, cooking and traveling. She dearly loved her friends and family and it always showed through in her smiles.
Words can not express the gratitude for the love and support provided to our family by Westminster Manor and Rehab, and Hospice and Community Care.
A committal service will be at 1:00 PM at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery on Friday, August 7, 2015, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church in York, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at First Presbyterian Church York in the Ladies Parlor.
