Frances Bratton Benfield, 84, of Hickory Grove, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Hickory Grove with the Reverends Ed Reynolds and Larry Hyder officiating. The family will receive friends at Bratton Funeral Home, York, SC, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Frances, daughter of the late Robert Walter and Pearl Ramsey Bratton, was born March 30, 1932. She was a member of Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Frances worked for 22 years at Celanese in Rock Hill and retired after 42 years at Wilkerson Supply in Hickory Grove.
Frances is survived by her three sons and their wives, Michael (Susan) of Smyrna, John (Carol) of Charleston, and Chris (Lisa) of Boiling Springs; and seven grandchildren Cassidy, William, Robert, Danner (Leah), Bratton, Madison and Matthew; brothers Joe (Cathy) Bratton and John (Margaret Ida) Bratton of Hickory Grove, and a sister Ruth Faulk of Wilmington, NC. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Ernest Irwin Benfield and siblings Wilma Howell, Christine Smarr Vinson, Emma Howell, Howard Bratton, Leon Bratton, and W.D. Sam Bratton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Vernon United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Margaret Bratton, 2660 Sawmill Road, Hickory Grove, SC 29717. The family would like to thank all friends and family who sustained Frances and her family these past months through their constant love and many acts of kindness.
