About Watts Funeral Home

Gene Watts founded Watts Funeral Home in July 1968 after graduating from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in Louisville. A native of Lost Creek in Breathitt County, Gene served as Breathitt County Coroner for five years and worked in the Coroner's office for 20 years. He received a Medal of Merit from the government for his assistance in the 1959 Floyd County school bus crash and won the Breathitt County Business Award in 2008.

The funeral home is now operated by the Watts family, including Gene's son Randy Watts and daughters Angie and Amy Bellamy, continuing more than five decades of service to Jackson and surrounding areas. The staff includes licensed funeral directors trained to handle family-specific requests and traditions.

Gene Watts served in the U.S. Army and holds certifications in Civil Defense and Advanced Course in American Red Cross for the Injured.
