Ready Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc. was founded by George W. Ready in 1912 with the original funeral home located on Cherry Street in Burlington, where the Ready family lived upstairs. When urban renewal forced relocation in the 1960s, George's son Bill moved the business to Shelburne Road and later opened a second location on North Avenue in 1974 to serve families on Burlington's north side.
The funeral home remains family owned and continues to serve the Burlington and Essex Junction area. Bill Ready ran the business alongside his father before taking over upon George's retirement after the Shelburne Road expansion.
