Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory was founded in 1921 and has been owned and operated by Gerald R. (Gary) Boyce, II since 1988. Boyce, a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, designed and built the current facility on West Cumberland Road, which opened in March 1994.
The funeral home occupies nearly 14,000 square feet on one level across four acres in Bluefield. The facility features multiple chapels capable of accommodating both large and small services, a home-like atmosphere with a fireplace and artwork throughout, and full handicapped accessibility with ample parking. An on-site crematory is available for families choosing cremation services.
