Bodelson-Mahn Chapel traces its history to 1960 when Don and Edla Bodelson established the funeral home. In 1986, John Mahn purchased the business, and the facility underwent a major remodel in 1988 when it became Bodelson-Mahn Funeral Home. The chapel was remodeled again to its current condition in 1997.
The Mahn family expanded their service area throughout the 1990s, acquiring Peterson Funeral Home in 1991, Anderson Funeral Home in Lake City in 1992 (merging them into the Anderson-Peterson Chapel), and James Lohman's funeral home locations in Zumbrota, Wanamingo, and Goodhue in 1996. The multi-location operation now serves families throughout Goodhue County from Red Wing, Zumbrota, Lake City, Pine Island, and Ellsworth.
The funeral home offers grief support resources and hosts free preplanning panel events where families can learn about advance funeral arrangements over a complimentary meal.
