Evelyn Moore, a devoted mother, beloved caregiver, and dedicated educator, who answered the Master's call on July 19, 2025 at the age of 72. Known for her deep kindness, elegance, and unwavering faith, she touched countless lives through her words, her wisdom, and her leadership.
Evelyn gave her all to others, whether it was through her work, her community involvement, or her deep friendships, she consistently showed up with compassion, grace, and humor.
She was the embodiment of grace - beautiful, inside and out. Her intelligence was matched only by her compassion, and her presence brought calm, care, and strength to every room she entered. As a mother, she gave selflessly. As an educator, she inspired minds and nurtured hearts. And as a caregiver, she offered dignity, comfort, and love to those who needed it most.
A woman of deep faith and insight, she carried herself with class and humility. Her strength came from her beliefs, her love from within, and her legacy lives on in all who had the blessing of knowing her. Evelyn was a faithful member of Howard Chapel United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, served on the "Soup Kitchen" Committee, Church Council Committee, Nominations Committee, Pastor Parish Relations Committee, as well as taught Vacation Bible School and Sunday School.
Evelyn attended Oconee High School and graduated from Dublin High School. She later went on to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Clark Atlanta University, Master’s degree in Curriculum Instruction and Technology, and a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University. She began her educational career in Laurens County and proceeded to educate young children in Twin City and Dublin City Schools. She retired from Dublin City School System after 36 total years in the educational field.
She is preceded in death by her mother Lillie Mae King, and her two brothers, Samuel King and Willie Lee King, Jr. She leaves to cherish memories to her father, Willie King, Sr, her sister Susie Mills, her two sons, Jerome Moore and Christian James, her three granddaughters Jaiden Moore, Kaylin James, Adora James, and a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Howard Chapel United Methodist Church, in honor of her lifelong commitment to helping others. She was more than loved. She was cherished. And she will be missed more than words can say.
Friends are being received at the family residences, 603 Smith
