Ernest "Pop" Montgomery

Ernest “Pop” E. Montgomery, 90, of Sharon, passed away surrounded by his children on Friday, August 18, 2017.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 2pm at York Church of God with Reverend Chad Smith and Reverend Chris Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service time at the church. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York.
Born in Hickory Grove, Pop was the son of the late James Franklin Montgomery and Mary Belle Ashe Montgomery. Pop retired from the Cannon Mills after working there for 46 years. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Pop is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marjorie Pressley Montgomery, daughter Crickett Vess, son Rick Montgomery (Kathy), 5 grandchildren and their spouses, and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Pop was preceded in death by his brother and six sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Interim Hospice at 154 Amendment Ave #106, Rock Hill, SC 29732 and to White Oak Manor of York at 111 South Congress St. York, SC 29745.
