YORK – Elna Pursley DeVinney, 84, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Bratton Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Sherer officiating. Burial will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 22 from 11 – 12 at Bratton Funeral Home.
Born July 25, 1933 in Filbert, Elna was a daughter of the late William Raymond Pursley Sr. and Mary Jane Brown Pursley, and was the widow of John “Jack” DeVinney, Sr. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in York having been an honorary life member of the Presbyterian Women and a member of the Johnny Lundgren Circle. She was also a member of the Kings Mountain Chapter of the DAR, a member of the Rainbow Garden Club in York, and was retired from the Bank of York.
Elna is survived by her children, Jane Guerry (Chip) of York and John DeVinney Jr. (Erin) of York, and four grandchildren, LeGrand and Caroline Guerry, and Jack and Lindsay DeVinney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund, 10, W Liberty St, York, SC 29745.
