Remembering Dorothy

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Ellison White will be held Saturday, January 07, 2017 at 11:00 A. M. in the Shady Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Steve Askew, Pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Dorothy Catherine Ellison White was born September 1, 1939, in Sardis, Georgia, to the late Mr. Will H. Ellison and Mrs. Magnolia Herrington Ellison. While under the care of Dublinaire Nursing Facility in Dublin, Georgia, our beloved Dorothy was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 31, 2016, after an extended illness. Dorothy accepted the call of Christ at an early age. In later years, she would fellowship with and join Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. She then relocated to Corner Stone Community Baptist Church also in Atlanta, Georgia. When her health began to decline, she then relocated to New Big Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Georgia Dorothy was a faithful member serving on the Ushers Ministry, Missionary Minister, and former President of the Deaconess Board. Dorothy attended and graduated from Waynesboro High School in Burke County, Georgia. She furthered her education by completing courses and graduating from Barnell Business College. Upon leaving her home, Dorothy moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where she began a flourishing courtship to become married to her beloved husband the late Booker T. White. This union of 46 years blossomed beautifully with unconditional love that was shared with a host of family and friends. Dorothy was a hard-working and very conscientious. She began her career in retail, thereafter, transitioning her career and became a Dietary Technician at Emory Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, until she retired. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Booker T. White; her parents: Will and Magnolia Ellison; brother William Cooper; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Annie Katherine and Willie Hurst, Charlie Wilburn and Mildred White, and Willie Monroe White. Dorothy leaves to commemorate her life and cherish her memories a devoted niece, Quincelynn Brown, a loving nephew, Tony Brown and great-niece, Brittany Brown, her sister Doris Parkmon of Augusta, Georgia; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws Virginia Thompson of Brooklyn, New York; France and Tommie Ashley of Dudley, Georgia, Yvonne and Malcolm Watkins of Montrose, Georgia, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
