David Monroe Knight, Sr. “Pops”, 72, passed into his eternal home on Monday, January 8, 2018.
A memorial service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church, 530 Bethany Road, Gastonia, with Rev. Danny Stephens and Rev. Roger Huffstetler officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 PM on Saturday at Southside Baptist in Gastonia.
David was a son of the late Rev. Jay Dale Knight and Mary Davis Knight. He was a member of Restoring Hope Ministries in Gastonia where he served on the church council board, retired as a QA Inspector at Freightliner, and loved woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Cathy McFalls Knight, children, David Knight Jr. (Tammy) of Clover, Brandi Knight Christopher (Jason) of Clover, grandchildren, CJ Knight, Nate Knight, and Morgan Knight, brother Rodgers Knight of Clover, and sisters, Betty Jo Daniels of Gastonia, and Donna Kay Wilson of Clover. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence Knight and Herbert Knight, and sister Carolyn Ruth Lovelace “Sis”.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Restoring Hope Ministries Building Fund, 2240 N. New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
