David Gentry

David Grayson Gentry, 77, of York, SC passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Liberty Church in York, SC with the Reverend Matt Burrell and James Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends between 12PM and 1PM Wednesday at the Church. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Holly, NC.
David was born on May 24, 1943 in High Point, NC. He was the son of the late Odis Harrison Gentry, Sr. and Evona Campbell Gentry. He was a plant superintendent at Carolina Paperboard, a member at Liberty Church in York, and was a veteran of the US Marines. David spent a lot of his time volunteering at Tender Hearts in York where he was an original board member.
David is survived by his daughters, Ainslee Moss (Timothy), Ashley Gentry, grandchildren; James Grayson House (Katie), Nolan Thomas House (Kaitlyn), Lucas Wayne Moss (Charity), Elizabeth Renee’ Wright (Lee), and great grandchildren, Ava Grace House, Henry Wright, and Lucy Wright.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Diane Dunn Gentry, brother, Odis Harrison Gentry, Jr., and sisters; Marion Cook, Cheryl Smith, Brenda Gentry, and Lucille Rassemuttin.
Memorials may be made to Poppie’s Empowerment Garden, which David designed at Tender Hearts, Po Box 634 York, SC 29745.
