Clyde Lester Ramsey, 77, of 202 Springdale Drive York, SC died at his home on Tuesday, October 21. A graveside service will be held at Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 N. Hwy 321, York on Friday, October 24 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Emily Sutton officiating. The family will receive friends at the home immediately following the service.
Lester was a son of the late John Preston and Bertha Hannon Ramsey. He was a 1955 graduate of York High School and a 2001 inductee in the York High School District One Athletic Hall of Fame. He was forever a York Green Dragon and a passionate lover of 1950’s music. He retired from the SC State Highway Department in 1990.
Lester is survived by his wife Janice; daughters Kim Ramsey (Dean), Kelly Ramsey (Chuck) and Kandi Peterson (Doug); five grandchildren, Kayla Brooke Cook (Tony), Wade Ramsey, Blake Peterson, Logan Peterson and Marion Peterson and three sisters, Janet Childers, Freida Hartsoe and Carolyn Totherow. In addition to his parents he was predeceased in death by two brothers, Pete and Gene Ramsey, and one sister, Polly Wyant.
