Irby Carlyle McGill, 83, of Smyrna, SC passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Smyrna ARP Church Cemetery, 3141 Legion Rd. Smyrna, SC 29743, with the Reverends Boyce Wilson and Alan Morrow officiating.
Carlyle was born on May 20, 1937 in York County. He was the son of the late Irby B. McGill and Adalene McLaughin McGill. He was a member of Smyrna ARP Church and retired as owner of McGill Logging and Timber Buyer.
Carlyle is survived by his son, Mike McGill, step daughters, Lynn Montgomery, Gwen Thompson (Jim), grandchildren, Heath McGill (Lauren), Hailey McCarter (Kendall), step grandchildren, Jaime Benfield (Brian), Justin Thompson (Nicole), and great grandchildren, Irby McGill, Averell McGill, Kendalyn McCarter, and Kaylee McCarter.
In addition to his parents, Carlyle was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Eleanor Gilfillan McGill, and daughter, Sherry Jo McGill.
