Remembering Carey

A Home-Going Celebration of Life Services for Deacon Carey Washington were held Monday, October 20, 2025 at 1:00 O’clock P. M. in the Sandy Ford Baptist Church, 2614 US-80, Dublin, GA. The Rev. Darryl Moore did officiate and the interment was followed in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery. Deacon Carey Washington A.K.A. “Deacon” was born on September 13, 1943 to the parentage of the late Rev. Wilson Washinton, Sr. and Mrs. Inell Washington. He was a member of the Sandy Ford Baptist Church where he joined at an early age, sang in the Sr. Choir and also served as chairman deacon for several years before withdrawing from his duties. He was an avid fisherman who also loved riding his motorcycles and bowling. He worked as a skilled brick mason for over 60 years beginning at an early age under the leadership of his father, alongside his younger brother, Wilson Jr. and to later leave the Washington bricklaying legacy in the hands of his nephew, Keith Washington. He also served on the East Dublin’s city council District 1 from 1999-2007. Deacon Washington passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, but he finally received his wish of being able to place his grandson, Jayce, on the bus for the past 2 years every morning until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Deacon Washington was preceded in death by his parents, son, LeShun A. K. A. RICKK, brothers, Sherman, Leroy and Wilson Jr., and his sister, Evelyn.
