Buddy Mitchell Smyrna Thomas “Buddy” Mitchell, age 76, died from cancer on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at his residence. He was the son of the late Finley and Bessie Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Ann Mitchell; brothers, Brice, Johnny, Fred, Frank, and Grady Mitchell; and his sister Lucy Wheeler. Buddy was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing after working there over 40 years. He served proudly as an M.P. in the United States Army in Korea. He was a volunteer fireman at the Smyrna Fire Department for 31 years and was a member of the VFW in Hickory Grove, SC. He is survived by brothers, Dean Mitchell of Smyrna and Roy Mitchell of Gastonia, NC; his sisters, Betty Bolin of Clover and Ruth DeMuth of Metairie, LA. He is also survived by his devoted companion Doris Mosley of Richburg, SC; his son Charles Mitchell of Smyrna, SC; his daughter Linda Goss and husband Mark Goss of York, SC. Buddy was a loving grandfather to Bailey Morrison of Anderson, SC, Julie Goss of Vestavia, Alabama, Wendy Goss of Rock Hill, SC, Michelle Goss, Mary Goss, and Andy Goss of York, SC. The family received friends from 6 -8 PM on Wednesday at Bratton Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11 AM at Canaan United Methodist Church in Smyrna and burial will immediately follow at Ramah Presbyterian Church in New Zion, SC.
