YORK -- Boyce Andrew "Whitey" White, 74, of 1451 Black Highway passed away Monday, March 21, 2016, at White Oak Manor in York.
The funeral will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Filbert Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wallace Tinsley and Rev. Dave Hall officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 - 11 AM at Filbert Presbyterian Church in York. The burial will be at 1:30 PM on Friday, March 25, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Rock Hill.
A native of York, Whitey was a son of the late William Elias White and Lula Jonas White. He was retired from General Tire after 30 years of service, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Rock Hill, where he was a choir leader for 18 years. He and his wife Rebecca loved to sing, enjoying music at Broad River Baptist Church, as well as singing at numerous weddings and funerals. Whitey also loved collecting old hymnbooks, woodworking in his shop, and golf.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca Taylor White of York, SC, step sons, Kenneth White of York, SC, Mike Taylor of York, SC, Jonathan Taylor of York, SC, sister Ethel Seay, and 8 grandchildren. Whitey was preceded in death by his son Andy White and step son Harvey Taylor.
