Blanche Elizabeth Howell Smith, 77, passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at her home in York.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 11, 2017 at First Baptist Church in York with Rev. Chris Liles and Rev. Gene Pace officiating. Burial will be at Hickory Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5 – 7 PM at First Baptist Church, York, SC.
Born January 15, 1940 in Hickory Grove, SC, Blanche was a daughter of the late William Charles Howell and Wilma Blanche Bratton Howell. She was a graduate of Hickory Grove High School and retired from Celanese Corp. after 39 years. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in York and loved her family and grandchildren dearly.
Blanche is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mason Smith, children, Jimmy Smith (LeAnn) of Lawndale, NC, Libby Childers (Gene) of York, grandchildren, Krista Parker (Jason) of Casar, NC, Morgan Barnette (Drew) of Abilene, TX, Masey, Nora, and Harrison Childers of York, great grandchildren, Ellie and Greyson Barnette, sisters, Emily Brown of York, Judy Bolin of Clover, Minnie Whitesides (Carl) of York, Walter Howell (Audrey) of Hickory Grove, and sister in laws, Jean Howell of Chester, Marian Parker of Clover. In addition to her parents, Blanche was preceded in death by her brothers, Bob Howell and Bill Howell, and sister Sarah Burgess.
