Arthur Martin

Arthur Glenn Martin, 91 of Gastonia, NC passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
The funeral service will be at 2 PM on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Bratton Funeral Home. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, SC. The family will receive friends from 1-2 on Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Old Hickory, TN, Arthur was the son of the late Hoy Leo Martin and Nora Annice Groce Martin. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Clover, SC. Arthur was a graduate of David Lipscomb University and was a minister of the gospel for sixty-three years. He preached in Ohio, Alabama, Indiana, Illinois, Mississippi, and Michigan. He spent five years as principal of Bible Training College in Nigeria, West Africa, and served as camp director for camps in Indiana and Alabama. For many years, he served on the Board of Shults-Lewis Children’s Home in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Arthur is survived by his daughter, Glenda Hood (James), son, Jeff Martin (Becky), sisters, Bettye Boles, Faye Alsup, six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Lawson Martin, son, Steven Leo Martin, brothers; Donald Martin, Ralph Martin, Kenneth Martin, Joseph Martin, and sister, Christine Stanton.
