April Elizabeth Gensemer

You cannot suffer great loss, unless you've loved greatly. April was loved greatly. She was loved greatly not only by her family, but by the many friends whose lives she touched.
April was always a caregiver, putting others needs before her own. Her selfless acts of kindness touched many lives. Her loving nature was a gift during her tenure as a veterinary technician.
April was always happy to receive visits from our wonderful family and friends while she enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds from the front porch. Thank you to her special men: James S., Ron T., Patrick F. and Pastor Ken. The hugs, handholding, kisses and words of encouragement meant the world to her. Even when her pain was unbearable, she never complained. We were given a glimpse of the true bravery that exemplified April. Even those visitors she couldn't receive know that she was always grateful.
We are grateful for the comfort provided to April by Providence Care Hospice. Visits from Heather, Angela, Laura, Tina and Pastor Ken were especially enjoyable. Thank you to all who prayed, placed calls of encouragement, provided necessities and food over the past couple of years. A special thank you to our First Wesleyen family (York) and to Amy whose sweet potatoes were a special treat.
April passed away peacefully as her mother held her. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; father (Ron); several special uncles; and her dearly loved companions Jake and Apple. She is survived by her mother Lisa; siblings Scotia (Chris), Eric (Anne), and Jonathan (Jennifer); nieces Karsen, Ava and Finley; many loved aunts, uncles and cousins; and her caretaker Lucy.
A celebration of life will be held June 11 at 10:30 am at Bratton Funeral Home (1455 Filbert Highway York, SC 29745). A burial will be private.
