Anne Barnett Hipp, 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Harbor Chase in Rock Hill, SC.
A lifetime resident of York County, Anne was born February 26, 1926 in the family home on Kingsbury Road in Clover, SC. Anne was the second born child of A. H. Barnett, III and Blanche Glenn Barnett. She was a graduate of Clover High School in 1943, and attended Charlotte Business School and later worked for Southern Bell.
On October 28, 1950, Anne married the love of her life, James Voight Hipp of Richburg, SC. They settled in York, where they raised their four boys. Anne and Voight were active members of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years. Anne was always willing to help with activities at church and in the community. She was active in the York Book Club, United Methodist Women, and was known for her abilities in the kitchen. Anne retired from York County in 1988 after 15 years in the Clerk of Court office. She spent the last years of her life at Harbor Chase in Rock Hill, SC.
Anne is survived by her sons, James H. Hipp (Edith) of Inman, SC; Rev. John W. Hipp (Carol) of Florence, SC; William V. Hipp (Jean) of Richburg, SC; Robert B. Hipp (Marty) of Murrells Inlet, SC; eight grandchildren, J. Aaron Hipp and Kathleen Hipp Burgwyn, both of Cary, NC; Stephanie Anne King of Charleston, SC; Benjamin Wesley Hipp of Pawleys Island, SC; Jenni Rose Bunkley of Rock Hill, SC; Zachary Hipp of Shady Side, OH; J.V. Hipp II of High Point, NC, R. Brice Hipp of Murrells Inlet, SC; and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 PM on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 12:30 – 1:30 PM at Trinity UMC Parlor.
