Addie Baker

Addie Foster Baker, 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at CMC Pineville after a long illness.
The funeral will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in York. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 PM on Saturday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.
Addie was a daughter of the late Ernest Guy Foster and Myrtle Brown Foster.
As a USAF military wife moving across the US and Canada for over 20 years, including when her husband was deployed overseas, she maintained a stable and nurturing home for their four children. She also was very close to her six grandchildren and one great grandson and took great pride in each of them. After her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, they settled in York County where she became known as a compassionate and loving neighbor, and an ardent environmentalist, as well as an amazing seamstress who donated her skills to family and friends. She also loved all animals, dogs in particular. Over the years she rescued several and made sure they had loving homes after nursing them back to health.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Baker Padgett of Charlotte, Anne Baker Christenbury of Rock Hill, Richard Laurence Baker II of Charleston, Robert Michael Baker of Rock Hill, sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Caveny of McConnells, 6 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. In addition to her parents, Addie was preceded by her husband Richard Laurence Baker and brothers, Ernest Guy Foster, Jr., and Paul Faver Foster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Childrens Attention Home, 1448 Edgewood Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to the Humane Society of York County, 8177 Regent Parkway, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
