Zennie Mae Laidler was born to Hattie Mae Williams on December 21, 1953, in Dublin, Georgia. She attended the B. D. Perry High School and she graduated from East Laurens High School in 1971 . She participated in Future Homemakers of America and played the clarinet in the marching band. Zennie found the Lord at an early age and began her Christian Service with Valdosta Baptist Church. She was an active member of the church and sang with the choir. While serving at Valdosta Baptist Church, in following the tradition which was passed down from her mother, she continued to distribute handkerchiefs to all the men annually on Father’s Day. She later joined Anointed Vessels Restoration Center, embracing their motto of; “Where everybody is somebody, and the misfits are the perfect fit for the kingdom of God.” She was one of the mothers of the church in which she provided Christian guidance and leadership with her wisdom and grace. She added her special touch to ensure that the church was beautifully decorated for all church events.

Zennie began her working career at the Mohawk Factory and then went on to work for P.L. Garment. She finished her stellar career at Walmart where she was the Department Manager of Housewares for over 25 years. Zennie passed away on August 20, 2018. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Mae Williams, and by her brother, George Williams.

She is survived by her loving children including her son, Lennix “Lex” Laidler of San Antonio, Texas, two daughters: Shametria “Pooky” (Arthur) McClain of Dublin, Georgia, and Chayla “Boo” Monroe of Dublin, Georgia, and one brother, Levi (Anna) Lawson of Atlanta, Georgia. She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, Alexa Laidler, Artianna McClain, Gemerious Smith, Titiana Hodges, Kianna Reese, Destiney Reese, Alysse McClain, Amiriya McClain, and Jeremiah McClain. Zennie also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 1003 Claxton Dairy Road, Apt B-2, Dublin, and on Friday August 24, 6-8 PM at the Dudley Funeral Home. Please post condolences at ServicesByDudley.com.
