Woodrow “Woody” Routh, age 62, of Eden, Texas, passed from this life on Saturday, August 03, 2013, at 12:50 a.m. in Community Hospital in San Angelo. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Eden funeral home. Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Eden, Texas at Hallelujah Trail Cowboy Church officiated by Pastor Steve Belote. Woody was born on January 26, 1951 in Crystal City, Texas to the late L.A. and Betty Routh. Woody served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In 1972, he married Nell “Sissy” Taylor and started their home and family in San Angelo, Texas. He worked in the oil field as a Rig Operator, then promoted to Rig Supervisor. Woody worked the rigs until retiring in 2006. They later moved to Eden, Texas, where he became a member of and was baptized in the Hallelujah Trail Cowboy Church. Woody was a die hard Dallas Cowboy fan, even through the rocky years. He enjoyed welding, was an avid gun collector, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include wife, Sissy Routh of Eden, Texas; one daughter, Lisa and husband Cody Evans of Eden, Texas; one son, David and wife Marion Routh of Big Lake, Texas; seven grandchildren, Jacob Hester, Hanna and Jarryd Evans, Tara, Heather, Reanna, and Wesley Routh; three sisters, Clarice Smith, Delane and husband Jim Smith, and Annissa and husband Allen Beise; and one brother David and wife Peggy Routh. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Debby and husband Mike Glass, and Roxie Taylor; and special nieces and nephews. Woody was a humble and hardworking man, who will be greatly missed. “This is where the Cowboy rides away”…
