Willie Smith
Funeral services for Mr. Willie Smith, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at 2 PM at the Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, 494 Evergreen Road in Dublin. Reverend Winfred McCloud will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith, who passed on September 25, 2015, was born February 25, 1933, in Montrose, to the late Henry and Jennie Smith.
He attended school in Laurens County. In 1955, Mr. Smith moved to Miami, Florida where he met and married Annie Lou Wynn who preceded him in death. To this union, two children were born, Jeanette and Dennis Smith who preceded them in death.
Mr. Smith worked as a truck driver for many years and after he retired, he relocated to Dublin where he became a member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Ann Fitzpatrick; two brothers, Henry and Ira Smith and by two sisters-in-law, Gussie Fordham and Claudia Wynn.
He is survived by two stepsons, John (Shakira) Oliver and Ronald Keith Oliver; four grandchildren, Latosha Kyler, Janyah Oliver, Malvis Stone, and John Oliver, Jr. He is also survived by his siblings, Dena (Robert) Jones, Jennie (Carl) Coley, Walter (Hazel) Smith, Samuel (Gwendolyn) Smith; sisters-in-law, Ada Smith, Betty Smith, Nora Mae Jones and Martha Turner; brothers-in-law, Roger (Pam) Wynn, Edward Wynn and Jimmy Wynn and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will be receiving friends at 710 Smith Street, Dublin.
