Funeral services for Mr. Willie Mack, of East Dublin, will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at the Green Grove Baptist Church, 2418 Highway 441 South in Dublin. Reverend John R Sutton will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Willie Mack was born to the late Jacob Mack, Jr., and Hattie Mack in Elloree, South Carolina on January 21, 1936. Mr. Mack was raised in Orangeburg, South Carolina, He enlisted in the United States Army on May 29, 1952. He proudly served his country including multiple combat tours liberating the oppressed during Vietnam War as a Special Forces "Green Beret". His unit assignments included the 82nd Airborne Division, the 173rd Airborne Brigade, and the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne). He retired in the United States Army as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Army Special Forces on May 31, 1972. Following outstanding service as a United States Soldier, he dedicated his efforts as a nurse's assistant for the Veteran Administration Hospital in Dublin for 20 years. Mr. Mack was a member of the Valdosta Missionary Baptist Church where he was a faithful man of God and for many years, he served as a Deacon and as Chairman of Deacons.

Willie Mack met Lula McLendon at Fort Valley State College in 1959. They married on October 23, 1960. After several duty assignments in Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Okinawa, Japan, Willie and Lula moved to Dublin, Georgia in 1972 where they resided for the remainder of their precious time together. On Wednesday July 24, 2019, God called his servant home. During his transition, he was surrounded by his loving family and remained the handsome and loving man his wife of 59 years, Lula M. Mack, knew him to be. Mack was a "Wise and Caring" man who left many to cherish his memory. His parents and three brothers, James, Johnnie, and Mose, and two sisters, Mary and Idella, preceded him in death.

Those who will miss him dearly include his loving wife, Lula McLendon Mack; his adoring children, Gregory Keith Mack, Timmy Raye Mack (Lisa), and Tammy Rene Mack Blackshear (Gabriel). He also leaves to cherish his memory three sisters and one brother: Sarah, Albertha, Patricia Mitchell and David Mack; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
