Funeral services for Mr. William M. Walthour, Jr., 84, of Dublin, will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 2 PM, at the Washington Street Presbyterian Church, 975 South Washington Street, in Dublin. Reverend Ricky Porter will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Perry Family Cemetery.

Mr. Walthour was born in Midway, Georgia, on December 20, 1933, to Wilhelmena Frasier and William M. Walthour, Sr. He was the fourth of seven children. He graduated from Savannah State College as a business major. He honorably served in the United States Army in the Specialty Military Police. Upon moving to Dublin and working as an accountant for TAG, he met Gwendolyn Perry and they were married on June 24, 1961. As a member of Washington Street Presbyterian Church, he served faithfully as treasurer for over 50 years. He was also an elder and church school teacher. He was a businessman whose endeavors included, IJW Manufacturing, Manning-Walthour Funeral Home, and Walthour’s Concrete Works. He worked as a private accountant and trusted advisor to many. Most recently he served on the Laurens County Tax Assessor’s Board. He was a member of The NAACP, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the Optimist Club. Mr. Walthour passed away on December 5, 2018.

Preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings, Lillie Gillard, Jeremiah Walthour and Samuel Walthour, Mr. Walthour is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gwendolyn P. Walthour, two children, Marc E. (Shelia) Walthour, Nellesa R. (Robert) Walthour, three siblings, Dorothy Jones, Sallie Richardson, and Ezekiel (Paulette) Walthour, a grandchild, Gabrielle M. Walthour; and many other family members and friends.
