Funeral services for Mrs. Walter Lue Simmons, of Dublin, will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 11 AM at the Greater New Evergreen Baptist Church, 1559 Highway 80 East in East Dublin. Reverend Michael Kirkland will officiate. Interment will follow in the Dudley Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons, who passed on December 13, 2014, was born October 6, 1925 to the late Cleomia Fullwood Walden and the late James Columbus Walden in Laurens County.

She was educated in the Laurens County School System and retired from Sasser Family Enterprises after more than forty years of service. She was married tto the late Albert Simmons on May 14, 1959. `

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Simmons; a daughter, Cloris Atkins; one great granddaughter, Latoya Holloway; three sisters, Mamie Lue Wright, Minnie Walden, and Lula Mae Ray; three brothers, Oscar James Walden, Roscoe Walden, and Felix Walden; and one cousin, who was raised as a sister, Carrie B. Thomas.

Mrs. Simmons is survived by one granddaughter, Denise Holloway; one great grandson, Devarus Holloway; numerous cousins including, Merrie L. Siggers of Detroit, Michigan; a devoted nephew and niece, Jeffrey (Gloria) Wright and a host of other devoted nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Edith Walden, Christine Walden and Evelyn Wallace.

The family will receive friends at the home of her nephew, Jeffrey (Gloria) Wright, 544 Ralph Keen Extension in East Dublin.
