Vern Parker Harris

ROY – Vern Parker Harris, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Stoneybrooke Assisted Living.

He was born January 19, 1933 in Layton, Utah to David Oscar and Vera Mae Parker Harris.

Parker married Renee Bitton on November 3, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple.

He was a veteran serving in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Parker lived in Layton and moved with family to Huntsville at a young age.

He attended Valley Elementary and Junior High, graduating from Weber High School.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher, counselor and as a stake missionary.
Parker loved fishing, hiking, hunting, and jogging. He loved his family and grandkids and telling stories around the annual hunting campfire.

He is survived by his wife Renee, children: Kaylene (Scott) Steele, Carolyn Massengale, Richard Parker (Cindy) Harris and Michael Kenneth (Trisha) Harris, 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings: Darrel (Sam) Harris, Lila Jean King, Billy (Billie Jean) Harris, Joseph (Majken) Harris and Robert (Bonnie) Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, and dear daughter Julie Ann.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 22, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West. Roy. A viewing for friends and family will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
